Leadership Pinebelt

The Leadership Pinebelt (formerly Leaders For A New Century) is celebrating 20 years of cultivating emerging community leaders who dedicate themselves to the betterment of the Greater Hattiesburg Area of Forrest, Lamar and Perry Counties and its citizens. Each year the program’s steering committee:

Plans and implements the program to educate class members on our area’s diverse economy and its needs

  • Selects and trains 20 individuals in the art of leadership and development of community projects

  • Assesses the program through class evaluations and alumni survey

Goals of the Leadership Pinebelt program are to broaden the base from which emerging leadership comes and to serve as a catalyst for increasing diversity among future leaders.

Group sessions focus on building leadership skills, such as conflict resolution, the power of persuasion, and motivation. Various tours give the participants a better understanding of the position of healthcare, cultural arts, economic development, the military, and industry in the Greater Hattiesburg Area of Forrest, Lamar and Perry Counties. This program is a wonderful opportunity for emerging leaders of the area to capture a deeper understanding of the area's strengths and critical needs.

Nomination forms are sent in January of each year to ADP members and Leadership Alumni. Those nominated submit an application to be reviewed by the Steering Committee. The new class is chosen in February and announced at a press conference in March. For more information on the Leaders program contact Susan Walker at 601.296.7518 or s.walker@theADP.com.
