One pillar that has provided continuous growth, as well as stability, is the military sector. Hattiesburg is home to Camp Shelby, which is the largest state owned National Guard training base in the nation. Employing over 3,000, Camp Shelby has trained thousands of troops being deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in recent years. Camp Shelby brings in numerous National Guard units from all over the country. Hattiesburg is also home to multiple defense related employers such as BAE Systems, Bracco Diagnostics, JPM, Deloitte, and SciGenesis.
