Jones County Junior College
Located in the Howard Technology Park, the Advanced Technology Center at Jones County Junior College is home to Workforce Development, Adult Education, and the Small Business Development Center, to name a few. Businesses and industries throughout Jones’ service territory have access to this facility for their company’s training needs or for special events. Its mission is to serve the academic, occupational and continuing education needs of the workforce and employers in the 8 county district: Jones, Wayne, Greene, Perry, Covington, Smith, Jasper, and Clarke.
Specialized Services
- Information Technology – This is specialized training in LAN (local area network) and WAN (wide area network) technology.
- Applied Manufacturing – Training in advanced welding, lean manufacturing concepts, electrical wiring, robotics, CAD (computer aided drafting), ammonia refrigeration, electronics and machining.
- Agriculture Science – Training in wood products and agricultural industries.
Small Business Development
- Business Counseling – Assist in developing and updating business plans and marketing strategies for current and prospective businesses. Also assist in identifying sources of funding and resources that provide funding.
- Small Business Workshops – Provide workshops with valuable information with regard to starting a business, taxes, time management, record keeping, etc. Most workshops are held throughout the year to meet the varied needs of starting and operating a business and are free or offered at a very minimal cost.
Adult Education Program
This program enhances basic skills such as reading, writing, math, communication, computer skills and teamwork.
